Juan Luis Cano Juan Luis Cano was born in Torrelavega (Spain) in 1979 and received the Telecommunications Engineering degree from the University of Cantrabria in 2004. In 2005, he was awarded with FPI grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. During his PhD studies, he made a four-month stay at Chalmers University (Göteborg, Sweden) and a six-month one at the Centro Astronómico de Yebes (Guadalajara, Spain), where he collaborated in the analysis of the semiconductor behaviour at cryogenic temperatures, as well as he designed very low-noise cryogenic amplifiers. In 2008 he received the Master degree on Mobile Network Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Cantabria. In 2010, he received the PhD degree (with Cum Laude and Europeus mentions) with the thesis entitled “Cryogenic Technology in the Microwave Engineering: Application to MIC and MMIC Very Low Noise Amplifier Design”

Currently, he is Assistant Professor in the Communications Engineering Department of the Universidad de Cantabria where he juggles teaching and research activities, within the RF and Microwaves Group, focusing his work in the following topics:

  • Design of circuits and systems in waveguide technology for high performance antenna feed networks.
  • Design of circuits and systems for microwave transmitters and receivers.
  • Design of very low noise amplifiers at room and cryogenic temperatures both in MIC and MMIC technologies.
